Concert For Howard is a tribute to the late Howard Berkman whose family will be donating the remainder of his estate to The Blue Sage and KVNF at the show. Howard’s musical friends, Mike Gwinn, Harry Harpoon, The Scones, and Johnny O. (who Howard taught how to play guitar and is now touring worldwide) will provide the music. It will be an evening of fun, dancing, celebration, plus a bunch of Howard’s songs will be covered throughout.
Howard was a big force in the North Fork Valley music scene. He grew up in Chicago in the 1960s and performed with and rubbed shoulders with many of the Blues Greats like Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, and others. His band, The Knaves, got a lot of radio airplay in the Windy City in the day and a few years back their recordings were released nationally on Sundazed Records. We were fortunate to have a musician of Howard’s caliber in this community and today we will celebrate his legacy with music performed by some of the many folks he inspired.
